these are the new image of singapore .... massive infrastructure MEGA shopping malls!

This make me wonder, what is the true image of singapore .. what can a tourist bring home from singapore.. what is the proud landmark we can tell our friends about singapore ?

the merlion ? ermz .. the mini merlion beside the big merlion ? the empty padang ? i think its not .. they will bring back the image of shopping SHOPPING SHOPPING.

I feel that singapore have nothing much to call home.. nothing interesting that i can share with my friends. Except that its a fine country i live in, with good security ... good friendly people and ... MEGA SHOPPING MALLS..

what happen to our past ?

i remembered growing up in the buzzling night market. where families are able to gather around the night bazzar, looking for food, things to buy .. or simply window shopping.

its such a nice time, where things are cheaper and creating a sense of belonging.

Nowadays. shops in the shopping malls are repeative. nothing unique and everything is boring. prices are outrageous, and getting out of hand ...

In order to boost up singapore tourist. we need something permamently that bring us back to our past glories.

the time, where night bazaar rules, cheap food, cheap merchandise that create uniquely singapore.

And not spending MILLIONS OF DOLLARS making a new orchard road ...
( Lesser shopping malls, means greener singapore )

shopping centre is nothing new to our foreign friends, i believe they can find better shopping centre in their own countries ....

Make singapore unique .. not predictable .... would you say so ?

Blessing by My Master

Sunday was special. not that tampines was spotted with a tornado, and not the flooding in paya lebar area

But my master, AC Piak came all the way from THAILAND to conduct a blessing / sakyant ceremony with all his disciples .. including me of cause.

He has a strong lineage from his grandmaster who are well known to many.

Beautifully Imperfect...

How apt this statement is to me. In the past, when people asked me, what do you love about your loved one. I was never able to provide an answer. All the things running in my mind are the negative impression that they have imprinted in me.

This is so common. I believe everyone can picture this. But something struck me years ago to change my thoughts. Throwing away something or ditching someone is not the answer to our pending problems.

I hate him because he snore, I hate this car because the engine is noisy. I WANT TO DUMP HIM!!I WANT TO BUY A NEW CAR!! haha .. sounds familiar ?

I hate imperfections, i need things and someone who is perfect..

Reading back my years, i believe i have grown up. grown to be understanding and tolerance to situation with minor problems.

I would like to dedicate this page to my love one , to let them know how perfect they are in my life ... even when we are imperfect

to the special one,

You drive with passion everyday, But always complain on the distance that brings us together. And the numerous ERP charges

What you think your work is like ??

I like to work .. i love to make my work interesting .. however, my work doesnt seems to be exciting at all..

THERE ARE MANY CHALLENGES. challenges like you never know..

I think my work is getting off hook at time.

I have a boss who is by chance, my father friend. When i join the company. he was a nice guy, however, there were no proper introduction into the company for myself.

I wander from places to places trying my best to know people. and the first few days at work was hell..

but thank god, i gather the help in a way that i am able to overcome such messy situation.

i do not sign any employment letter mind u... i am just a wandering ghost.i do not know the company policies, i just do whatever i like to do..

guess what, i thought what i did was correct! because no one stop me. i left work early, do what i like, and whatever. and no one stop me

then suddenly, my dad friend complain about me, but didnt come speak to me personally. i was quite pissed. i do not even know the procedure.

then today i make a difference, i let the whole world know my intention.

i really do not know what to say, or how to say. i hope everything will be as smooth as it is ..

Be Your Own Protector

Today's talk is based on Dhammapada #160

Atta hi attano natho, ko hi natho paro siya
Attana hi sudantena, natham labhati dullabham.

Translated it means:

"Self is one self’s protector; for what other protector could there be?
Through a well-tamed self does one get a protector who is hard to get."

Everybody wants protection, whether from sickness, poverty, misfortune, distress or danger. Many will seek protection by praying to deities, by making offerings to monks or inviting them to chant parittas for blessings. But the Buddha says that you can be your own protector. Yesterday, Sayadaw U Indaka talked about four types of happiness and how we can achieve them.

1. Perform dana for the happiness of wealth.
2. Observe sila for the happiness of health and longevity.
3. Develop samatha meditation for the happiness of the mind.
4. Develop vipassana meditation for the happiness of Nibbana.

So, if you want to protect yourself from poverty, practise generosity. If you want protection from illness and premature death, live a moral life by observing the 5 precepts. If you want protection from having mental distress, practise samatha meditation like visualising the Buddha, watching your breath or radiating metta or loving-kindness. If you want Nibbanic bliss, then practise vipassana meditation.

People who are wealthy and healthy are those who had done a lot of dana and lived moral lives before. In this long samsara (round of births and deaths) without discernible beginning, all of us had been generous and stingy, moral and immoral before in our past lifetimes. Therefore, we will never know when our past kamma will ripen, whether it is good or bad. If you become bankrupt or is diagnosed with a terminal illness, it will be too late to do dana or observe the precepts in order to protect yourself from poverty or ill-health. This is just an extreme example. In fact, we often find ourselves surrounded by circumstances beyond our control, e.g. the weather, political instability, business downfall, "bad luck", ill-health, accidents, etc. Although dana and sila can help protect us from future poverty and ill-health, they cannot immediately relieve us of such misfortunes in the present. How we react or respond in any circumstance will determine the quality of our life.

For example, you may be very rich, but if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness, how will you react? Most people caught in this situation will go through the whole process of denial, self-pity, anguish, despair, anxiety, asking "Why me?" and so forth. This is especially so for those who have not learnt any meditation technique. But if you have practised samatha or vipasanna meditations before, you will be able to handle the situation better to protect yourself and to lessen your mental and physical sufferings. You will know how to restrain the mind from getting trapped in negative thoughts and emotions. You will be able to remain calm and composed, and therefore respond positively to negative circumstances.

A well-tamed self is one that has been well trained to prevent the mind from being engulfed by negativity and to direct it to respond positively to unpleasant and trying circumstances. This is certainly not easy to achieve, as you will realise if you have tried formal meditation before. Nonetheless, if you really want to protect yourself from the suffering wrought by negativity, sooner or later you will have to learn to train and tame the mind.

So, if you haven't got a tamed mind yet, it's about time to start learning how to become your own protector. Come join us in our Saturday evening meditation session in SBS. We teach metta and vipassana meditation, which will certainly help to produce a well-tamed self and mind, therefore making you your own protector.

The Meaning of TERROR - ISM

Recently, i was watching slumdog millionaire

it was a clever movie surrounding the reality of india.

how they live their life and going about their daily life. there was one part which shocked me greatly.

when the 2 kids were playing in the river with the mother washing clothes. All of the sudden, A mob of crazy indians rushes towards them with clubs in their hands

running and shouting : ' kill them, they are muslims.' and the movie shows that hundreds of muslim men and women young and old are not spared by the crazy mob. shops were burnt and houses were destroyed! kids are left oprhange and there were no mercy

It then struck my mind .. what is the meaning of TERRORISM?

When the incident of 911 happen, major newspaper in the world have been using the word terrorist and terrorism without fail and sometime repeating more than 20x in a single article. and it was all directed to a particular faith.!

Now when i check out the dictionary. terrorist or terrorism, are people who create fear;causes terror;misery to another person.
( it does not state a certain faith )
infact in my thoughts, i feel that everyone is a terrorist! when we are offended, and we are angry, we terrorise the other party with our vulgarities, actions and sometime causes hurt to another person.

The movie slumdog millionaire, shows clearly that everyone is capable to terrorist other. not just the particular faith.

therefore i hope that this movie will be a lesson to all, DO NOT LABEL OTHERS.

The concept is beautiful, food reasonably priced and excellent quality but ermz .. why did they wanna spoil the atmosphere by playing korean songs !!!!?? so salah

Kudos to Korean food .... its simply the best ...

this is my first time sitting by a hot charcoal bbq in a restuarant enjoying my korean style bbq meat ..

Honestly speaking, i could not rem the name of the shop. its somewhere at square 2 novena sq

its not very expensive for its nice restaurant setting, but its pretty expensive becoz the meat is little.

It surprise me that when u ordered the meat. they come with appetizer .. and i do not know what is it man ... lol

and if u do not realise yet .. korean food is really very addictive .. they uses natural ingredients like herbs and spices to enhance the taste ... i personally like the yellow mash potatoes kinda stuff .. its

awesome

now for sure .. abv is our main course .. koreans eat their meat with vegetable .. very healthy.. we orderd a sirloin steak and a spiced chicken meat. to our surprise .. its so different fromt the pic .. there were 2 to 3 sirloin in the pic.. and the waitress says .. its for illustrative purposes only

Genting .. the world of wonders ... really ???

Genting .. Malaysia truly asia here i come

lol .. went to msia genting for my little get away break .. i know i know, some pple tell me, come on spend some good money to experience a quality cooling winter feeling. but well, a few hundred bucks can get me close to the temperature experienced in winter time like in taiwan and hongkong .. lol ..

well, its been awhile i go to msia, so i tot this is an awesome way to chill out ... but but
unfortunately, i got mild food poisoning .. lol .. so msia tap water isnt safe at all .. damn u truly asia !

why put safe for drinking .. when it isnt ! lol .. well .. none the less, its worth a trip ..

i got to experience beautiful seneic view along the expressway to yong peng .. seeing farms, palm tree plantation and of coz beautiful rainbows, moutain and rainforest .. lol ... seriously speaking ... malaysia city is disgusting . but the untouch natural moutains and sky is awesome ... esp when u are up in the tall moutain of genting

lol enough said . let the pic do the talking ...

now going to msia have many wonderful benefit ... have u ever imagine sitting a bus with similar services u can find in an airplane .. whoa shiok !

currently 2 bus provider is fighting for the big share in the market

transtar and five star ..

transtar cost $150 for a to and fro trip which includes meal on board

five star cost $110 without any meal on board

well .. u decide what u like the most . for this trip i took 5 stars

here is the undisturbed view of the beautiful nature .. isnt it amazing .... i love the view ..

then we reach genting at abt 230 pm .. oops . i leave singapore at 730am .. though the journey is long, but i tell u .. its an interesting journey and filled with alot of beautiful natural view .. undisturbed by the city.
as we are going on a budget, we decided to stay in a nice hotel .. everyone shld have heard of first world hotel before. lol .. its a huge hotel with 6000 over rooms. But one thing sucky is the security. nothing seems to be safe. the police seems to be slacking instead of making sure the place is safe .. or simply, the people are not afraid of the polic ba

ok this is the interior of the hotel ... look at the hotel, it doesnt even look like a hotel lobby. more like a polyclinic la .. lol .. there are touters everywhere, asking pple for money taxi and everything

there are also pimps as well, asking if u like to have sex with a 16 yrs old girl .. wah .. ridiculous

if u are heading to genting, becareful of this syndicate .. they are out there to cheat pple for money ... mostly come from china . they will approach u when u are alone and quietly whisper and our normal reaction is to go ' har' what u say ? then they will ask u for money

becareful ... the police is sleeping .. so dun keep ur singapore crime fighting spirit at home, bring it along with u to protect urself .. safeguard !! lo

and there are 2 theme parks .. i didnt go to the outdoor theme park .. i took some pic of the indoor theme park instead

ok here comes some kinda food for u .. there are so many varieties, but dun expect things to be cheap la, things cost almost the same as singapore

anyway .. there is a marybrown .. heard of it before ? but too bad, no pic of marybrown . lol

and a nice secret shot of the casino .. rem .. no filming in the casino .. so i got something here for u ..well, its no fun playing casino la .. boring

and we had some porridge steamboat .. well . singapore has lots of them . but this is my virgin experience .. i wouldnt say its awesome .. its just ok.

I find mundane in the job, not becoz i dislike meeting people, but the environment does not spur me on.

well .. got to bite the tough bullet .. i am my only island .. and IN GOD I TRUST

ok here i go with makan .. andersons ice cream

mmmm.. nice tasty mouth watering ice cream, i realise that anderson serves very fine ice cream and each ice cream comes with hot fudge sauce .. sure wanting everyone to get fat .. lol

but i love the 1st one .. 5 scoops of ice cream ur choice . simply heavenly!

their brownies is nice too .. well.. it must be enjoyed with my groups of close friends too

Welcome to the WORLD OF FISHES

I had never like fishes alot. But my adventure with fishes begin.. i think its time for me to find something exciting in life beside work to think about ...

My first encounter with fishes recently, will be the restaurant the GREAT WORLD CITY . its called imperial treasure restaurant. .. i really wanna go try .. everything seems so fresh and tasty .. even the live fish swimming in the fish tanks .. lol .. but honestly, i wont want to be like the fishes .. so poor thing ...

next stop before heading to qian hu fish farm for some spa fish .. lol .. its my turn to try it out!!!

i head to causarina street to have some authentic cantonese lunch .. but how authentic it is ??

only the boss is authentic cantonese la .. he is shouting and yelling at almost every of his staffs. asking them to hurry up and scolding them being stupid .. lol .. ermz .. such culture dun work here in spore!!!

its called dun know what boss . in chinese la ..

and we ordered yong tau foo soup in a really oily soup n a dumpling soup .. its really nice for the dumpling ..big succulent and tasty

and our miserable hk porridge ...

our not so nice lunch la .. then we head down to qian hu fish farm!!!

for those who drive ... qian hu fish farm is opp the new home team academy .. so drive there the sign board is too big to miss la .. but if u dun drive .. then take the free shuttle service lor .. its free!!! at cck interchange .. lol

The farm is really a farm .. lol .. everything is quite kampong style .. but from here, u can buy fishes cheaply and they have a wide variety of fishes to choose from . they also have cafe and ermz ... a shop that sells fish accessories and stuff .. but the main idea is not all this .. its the FISH SPA

First go for the small fishes ... lol . the feeling is tickish .. something like ur normal massge chair .. lol its a nice feeling .. once ur feet is in the water long enough .. alot of fishes will come and nibble ur dead skin cells ..

its said to be theraupetic and it helps to maintain healthy skin and keep all kind of skin disease at bay . go try it to believe it la

then if u are daring enough ... lol

this is what i mean .. the fish is big ok .. and the pond is generally empty ... lol .. pple dun like the big fish . because ..... !!!!

the fish is BIG BIG BIG . .. lol .. you can really feel the fish mouth opening and tickling u .. ok . these fishes have no teeth ok .. lol but the feeling is stronger than the small fishes !!!! lol

Do you send your clothes for laundry ?

What do you do with ur dirty clothing ? send for laundry or simply wash it at home..

Many of us have the comfort of having our mother or maid at home to wash our clothes .. me too !! i have my mum ...

Do you ask them to wash it for you, or u send to laundry ???

Honestly speaking, i regret each and every moment to have my clothes washed at home .. ok here i goes ...

1. my clothes are not washed in time
2. my clothes are always washed not according to instructions
( in the end , whatever clothes i buy .. its always spoiled ) money goes down the drain...
3. my cl0thes are not iron
4. my clothes are typically just thrown into washing machine, without realising that it is not suitable
- in the end, i spend a fortune of clothes and its spoils and discarded and spend another fortune awaiting it to be discarded again

When i send my clothes to laundry oooh .. its so well taken care of ...

now so .. which do u prefer .. i prefer laundry again .. never for my mum to wash ..!

Hey peeps, sorry for the late entry .. well .. i believe u are waiting to see more of my food trail ..

Crystal Jade dining ...

hmmm .. when we talk about Crystal Jade, it is synonomous to chinese dining. Everyone practically love their food. Their concept range from shanghainese dumplings to casual dining to dim sum and to serious food cannoseiur who love good food.

The queue on weekends, public holidays is totally horrendous. But is the food really so so so nice ? well, i believe each and everyone have different opinons on quality and taste of food.

I have my virgin experience with crystal jade at IMM. I felt that the food is overpriced with dimsum items rocket high. I have to admit that the dim sum varieties and style is a break through from traditional one, and i love the passionate service they offered just like a high end chinese dining.

But the food is way to salty and heavy on the palate ! need to tone down on

3 of us dining cost us a total of $100 ++ , for a few simple dim sum ... its really expensive

take a look at the dim sum we orderedThere are shrimp fried chee cheong fun which is the 2nd in the pic and shrimp dumpling

up next .... shrimp fried chicken wings n deep fried squids

okay enough of crystal jade ... what say you? i will give it 2 out of 5 stars ...

up next five star hainanese chicken rice .... have you tried it before ....

I tried the stall at bukit timah .. and frankly speaking.. what is so nice about this brand ? similar to boon tong kee its price is way too high, but five star is def cheaper than boon tong kee and offers a varieties of other dishes which boon tong kee do not.

I would say that five star chicken rice manage to wake my palate more than boon tong kee, but compare to my normal coffee shop chicken rice ?? i would still prefer my normal chicken rice

stress sick or life is daunting ?

I seriously do not know what is happening to me ?

When it comes to nightfall, and everyone is tucking into bed quietly and slowly falling asleep. I am still awake staring out of my windows seeing lights off from one apartments to another, or i will be tossing and turning around in my bed, my mind actively flipping its 'memories switches' on. I will start to think about my past, about my family, about my life, about my future, about money, about love, about religion, about uncertainty, about food, about what to do tomorrow, about almost everything which you can think about in the fantasy world. I AM SERIOUSLY NOT FALLING ASLEEP!

I NEED HELP !!! IS THERE SOMEONE WHO IS KIND ENOUGH TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO ?

When people ask me , hey is your life so stressful? i could not think of things which i feel very stressful about. Except that most probably i am very confused about things. This sleepless problem have been bugging me for so many years and nothing has been helping me.

I tried meditation before, exercising and blah blah blah . it just do not work. ( anyway i exercise regularly except recently) but even my fat neighbour sleep like a pig !!! ( thats when i come home late and i hear him snoring in his room )

I do not want to resign to my fate. I want help. I want to sleep !! i want to rest. and guess what, the only time i rest well is in the afternoon .. hey thats weird!!! i imeediately fall asleep in the afternoon but i take hours to fall asleep in the night sometime not even sleeping at all.!

I even read up books on sleeping better they say
- have a good sleeping partern
- have a consistent temperature ( any dip or rise in temp will cause u to wake up )
- make sure ur workplace is far from ur sleeping area
- do not read or work on ur bed
- prepare urself mentally to sleep 1/2 hr before if u are working or watching tv at home
- switch off all static electricity
- do not clutter ur sleeping area

i have to be honest ... i only manage not to read and work on my bed and switch off all electricity.
I think most probabaly, i will need a spartan room, remove all shit nonsense, and so i can sleep better. but i wish that i am just thinking too much la...

some even said medication - melatonin , sleepeasy therapy like massage, aromatherpay ... doesnt help ler ... doesnt really help ler ...

okay maybe i need a pyschologist ba ... or i really need another person to sleep together with me on the same bed !!!! so i can feel the warm of the other person ..... arrgh .. i am not pervert ..

but i recognise the magic of touch ...

okay for now .. i have whine enough ...

Its another friday ... i have been counting down each week to friday .. lol. i realise that week by week, month by month, year by year .. actually pass by so quickly .. so so quickly ... have u ever wonder, when u sleep and wake up, almost 8hrs is gone ..

haiz .. but man needs sleep to work for a better tomolo

weather has been so sucky recently .. i hate it .. cant run and go to the park ...

if u love korean, u will like toufu soup .. and if u like korean u might know this home brand called manna restaurant .. it serve damn good toufu soup can .. really amazing ...

when u think of restaurant, u think of posh place, actually its just the name, manna can be found in takashimaya basement, tampines mall foodcourt and in chinatown as well .. eu tong sen str. lol

okay this has nothjing to do with food, i am not ready to eat a live animal .. when i was in chalet, i saw this nice tree squirrel jumping ard . and he look so curious when i took a pic of him .. i was aiming my camera unto him and he practically stood there and look .. lol, to be honest, i was so scared that he will prey on me due to his survival instinct thinking that i might be disturbing him, but in fact he did not .. he even freeze there and pose for me .. lol

firstly, QQ noodle house at bugis .. the noodle is similar to maggi noodle, but not all variety are nice, u got to know what to choose ... the fish soup sucks !

and the sucky fish soup .. its oily and tastless ...

but this Hotpot soup is nice .. just alright .. nothing fantastic

then we head down to eat the famous soy bean shop .. there are 2 shop side by side . one is always long queue the other is not .. however i feel that the one which does not have much pple is nicer ....

singapore trend - conformotive trend .. just follow the crowds .. shld open eyes bigger .. good food sometime doesnt have to queue!!! lol and its cheap too

I came out for awhile and went to bugis to eat.. whoo ,,Ministry of food is nice .. however the service sucks .. they employed foreigners who dun speak english . or little english. so when u tlk to them .. thye jus nod their head and nothing else .. they do not even explain the menu for u .. its rather confusing with top ups and add on

Its Ikea time for me after a long time
AND they are giving us a HOLE NEW EXPERIENCE!!
Sound rather kinky u know .. lol

Guess what i did in ikea .. lol .. went to the alexander one and shop ard and just buy one lint roller

so if u ask me what i do in ikea i would say ' i went there to buy lint roller'.

some stupid pose with the lint roller lol

then head down to ermz koufu at anchorpoint .. i dislike the idea of a foodcourt without the signboard prominently placed! its so hard to know if thats a foodcourt ..
the food court look similar to food republic
i personally feel such concepts sucks. its so ermz ..confusing and getting those expensive food inside. i m a poor boy .. no money for expensive western food and whatver grill

and i orderd a $4.80 chicken rice .. this is how it looks like

its a pathetic plate of chicken rice set. the chicken is misreably little. its dry and not tasty at all. and place on top of beansprout. i applaud for the innovation, but it doesnt seem like a good combination and the vegetable ? lol .. simpy disgusting .. all for $4.80

then come next is my yong tau foo soup . this is one of the worst soup i ever experience before. totally not platable. the toufu stink and reek of smelly pork
i will be writing in to koufu for some feedback soon for the lousy food and service. its utterly disgusting...

then i head down to emerald hill and check out some old traditonal houses

Its my grandma's birthday today. its so happening. Last week was only fathers day and this week is my grandma's birthday

I love my grandmother alot, she took care of me when i was young. And this was when i started to learn malay and started to appreciate my peranakan culture.

Well, since her celebration is at night, which mean i have the whole day to myself.

I did not have a pleasant morning at all. simply piss me off. the pic below will speak a thousand words. The van was blocking everyone way.No one knows what hell is he doing and he was apparently blocking the parking space that is for us.

We exchange a few unpleasant words, and threatened him that i will call the police as he was foul and unrepentant of his actions to block people's right of way. later on i took some pic, and he was convinced that he will get in trouble and start to drive off .. really cannot understand people at all. -- STOP THE CAR JUST TO WAIT FOR THE BREAD SHOP TO MAKE UR WAFFLE ? oh please, then park it properly! and dont confront people.

Then i have this wonderful breakfast .. LONTONG!! i tell you this is power. so if you stay at bukit batok . give you a hint, find the famous curry puff called hello. there are 2 coffeeshop facing oneanother .. and may iris salon is nearby .. lol.. at ave 3

okay .. after breakfast, headed down to beach road market to do JAN'S army uniform, he need to get prepared for the SAF parade and down to SSC for a tanning session. the sun i tell you is so good .. SUMMER IS BACK!!!

then back to the beach road market for makan .. yeah .. there are alot of famous food there. namely :

Fried Hokkien Noodle at basement near the staircase

Fried Kway Teow cockles ( NO PORK NO LARD )

Beef Noodle

Ah balling Dumplings .. etc etc .. too many to tell

so today we had fried hokkien noodle and Fried Kway teow cockles.

Okay dude, the fried hokkien prawn noodle first. The sight of the long queue and the number of

'da bao' wrappers laid would indicate its a long wait! but its a scam!! lol .. do not be fooled by that. they are just preparing it should there be peak hour rush. lol . clever indeed, i waited for only 10mins for this fried prawn noodle.

The noodle is skillfully fried with yellow noodle and thin beehoon. I must say that the stock is very powerful. It kicks in your mouth! I like the idea of serving belacan chilli and red cut chilli, So chilli lover like me can feel more punch in the meal. In all, this meal bring heaven to your tastebud.. must try!!!

So overall, the food is 4 thumbs out of 5!
The unfortunate part is that the prawn is shelled and small. they might consider using bigger prawn. $3 for this plate is too little for a regular portion .. It whet my tastebud but it do not satisfy my craving, unless i order another plate of $3. lol

Fried Kway Teow Cockles ( No pork No lard )
The amazing thing of this food is that it breaks away from the traditional uses of lard in cooking.

No one can imagine that vegetable oil makes a fried kway teow superb.

The store is brightly lit and full of neon lights and awards. you will never miss it.

frankly, this is the healthiest version of fried cockles kway teow i ever eat. There are lots of green vegetables and top up with freshly fried crispy ikan billis ... whoo .. yummylicious .. they are very generous with their cockles too ...

5 out of 5 thumbs ........... die die die die mati also must crawl out and try !! suitable for all religion

Then we head down for more food, this time at bishan junction 8, after much discussion, we had dessert. Its at the basement. And i believe it is rather famous for its yam cake and dessert

Gingko Barley

well, my suggestion is to drop the ginko barley, presentation fail and taste fail. it lacks of the taste of barley and the 'tau kee' . the barley stick together due to too much starch.

This is the waterchestnut with egg .. anyway its a cold dessert. the munchy waterchest is nice

And not forgetting the yamcake. Its filled with bitsize yam and accompanied with nice chilli that is fried with dried shrimp and garlic.. a must try. i love the chilli more than the yam cake anymore.

Then rested awhile, head down to my auntie house for more food !!! lol .. lets not talk too much we shall take a peep what are all the food. but for people who do not know.

Lemak Yongtaufoo - a coconut gravy similar to laksa, cooked with loads of yongtaufoo variety. good accompaninet with rice.

And ... my auntie being a buddhist, she have this buddha statue since like 40yrs ago. it is still beautifuly kept.. look at the serene look .. i find some shrine clean and really soothing to the soul

hello and a wonderful hi !! Gosh, its a thursday and i have decided that i should put the date on the title instead of someother thing. really sick to think of title to put

anyway, decided that i should go catch a movie, but incidentally, my mum also wants me to help her collect tong shui food voucher at keypoint .. so i went and do it ! i think the management of keypoint is good .. the carpark was free!!! lol, though its stated at $2 per hour
but when i was there less than 20mins, and drive past the gantry, its $0.00

hey thanks keypoint carpark management .. its a shock, becoz they didnt indicate that parking less than 20mins is free .. i was so sad initially when i have to pay $2

then i head down to ermz .. u know sultan mosque stretch, there is zam zam and new victory restaurant. i thot of getting some nice murtabak and mee goreng. but i do not remember which was nice the previous time i ate. so i decided to give new victory a go.

it was utterly disgusting. the food is not up to standard.

firstly, the chicken murtabak was a failure, it looks like sardine murtabak at the first glance. guess how unprofessional they were, they actually put CHICKEN CURRY inside the murtabak, and they just shred the chicken from the thigh meat. its crazy

i told the person, and he replied, u want chicken murtabak and here is ur chicken murtabak! but hey. its soggy .. why chicken murtabak this way. so ridiclous. never going back there again ..

Although i may be going to an indian muslim restaurant , but hey I EAT LIKE A CHINESE. I DO NOT LIKE MY FOOD THROWN OR SMASHED TOGETHER. ITS FEEDING DOG ! I AM A HUMAN .. DAMN IT!

hey hey .. is this THE DRY VERSION OF MEE KUAH ? the appearance is nice, but when the noodle is served, i can smell the distinctive yellow noodle flour smell . its damn er xin.

and so if you deciding to go to new victory restaurant .. give it a miss

A bright new future for me .. lol .. well, its an interesting day perhaps .. the weather makes it interesting for me

it was sunny for the early morning, then it started to get cloudy then rainy ... hmm so weird

was checking out the weather forecast nowadays, the weather is getting hotter even in the coldest part of the world where polar bear make their home... hmm and natural disaster .... whassup world ?

well ... anyway .. for people out there reading my blog, the future is uncertain. but our own future can be plan. quickly diversify ur money now so when economy get better , u will earn lots .. dun wait for the it to recover to invest. the best time to invest is when its low not high

anyway ..went to the G Y M today .. lol .. too shag to take pic for myself but ermz .. i think some nice shot will be nice la

i like my gym locker .. quite nice .. quite spacious too .. but can get super crowded

my shoes, this is an expensive pair, and i like it .. it conform my feet and makes it so comfortable to run .. i love addidas ...

well, this is the most i can do in the gym .. lol .. wanna know which gym i go to ? ask me !!!

well, i am now embarking on a diet change .. less meat more veg

NO PORK, NO BEEF, NO MUTTON, NO SALMON - simply put, no big animals

i am going for small animals like chicken duck pigeons, small fish and seafood for a change

then slowly elminating some othe above mentioned

well, to make sure i am doing everything right ..

meatless minestrone soup .. nice , it has always been my favourite

then i head to the library and do some quiet reading and sleeping .. but i realise .. no sleeping in the library .. lol

how i interpret it will be , ' when a mistake is done, do not worry, do not try to resolve it! sometime the best solution is to make it BIG.'

does it sound right ? yes it does! I am saying that a murderer should go on a killing spree since he is a murderer. What i meant is simple things in life. for example, when you mismatch a tie with your shirt. DO NOT need to fret and start shopping! since its a mistake, go ahead and make this mistake BIG and take it as a fashion statement uniquely to you along!

If you can see, this BIG MISTAKE actually helps to strengthen your character and make you bolder and trains your inner personality.

But a nonchalent attitude towards failure is wrong! we should not feel challenged and give up because of a mistake! instead we should challenge ourselves to embrace the failure in a positive note that leads to another success.

when failure happens, smile and say :' its for the better good'

before failure happen. ' plan for success '

Many people ever ask me, hey dude, how do you keep up with your fitness when you are eating so much .. well i replied ' exercising and eating is like breathing and walking.

So exercising is an integrated part of my life just like breathing.

so i can simply say, i live to eat and exercise !! lol

But i believe there are people who are much fitter and stronger than me .. however, i am happy with what i have .. this is enough for you to go WOW!

I head down to causarina curry. if you do not know where isit .. go search at yahoo or google it. they are opening one more outlet at killiney road opp singel comm center

they are famous for their prata 'kosong' which is serve hot and crispy.

Their prata with filling inside is quite a big serving. so if you are not hungry .. lol, go for kosong prata please .. the egg prata is huge too ..

however, i decided for a change instead of prata.

ordered : 1 chicken murtabak
1 Prata kosong
1 Mee goreng

chicken murtabak and mee goreng is something new that i am trying.
To be frank, i have tasted good murtabak and mee goreng only at zam zam n new victory rest opp sultan mosque. Quite skeptical how it will taste like. to my astonishment! the murtabak (small) is bigger than the one i had at zam zam and new victory. for $5 their small chicken murtabak is more than enough for 2 person to eat.

I am not quite satisfied with the chicken filling. it is not pleasing to the eye as it is red in color. and the chicken meat is loosely scattered inside the murtabak. Compared to the one at zam zam and new victory rest, their chicken pieces are fragantly fried with onion and garlic and is fully packed into the murtabak. but not the case for causarina.

Their mee goreng is going to be the highlight of the day. Amazingly this mee goreng does not have the yellow noodle starchy taste like how you will commonly find in stall who does not hold pride in their cooking.
They cooked well, the first indian store with a wok hei in their mee goreng so far. a must try. generous portion of egg . but the price cld be lower ..

ok after causarina . i head down to try this fishball mee sua .. ok the prata is very sinful le .. so need to eat some fruit .. i like my fav dragonfruit..

this fishball mee sua is nice. so in such an incident if u are craving for fish ball noodles, go for mee sua, its the lowest calories in the category of ' mee ' the highest will be the yellow noodles u eat becoz to pack with flavour, they coat with lots of flour and egg.. watch out ...!!!

First stop ... chinatown .. i love this place. well thats because i am a chinese. they have everything that you will never expect to find in singapore. From cheap necessities to cheap good food, famous dessert shops, old housing, chinese medical halls that sells weird things to fengshui, travel agency .. the list just goes on and on and on ... well ...

WELCOME TO DISCOVERY CHINATOWN!!!

1st stop.
Before we start to walk the beauty of chinatown. Lets get our stomach filled. We head down to Tong Shui desert store at this shopping mall opposite Chinatown square
Its located at the 2nd floor corner beside another famous desert store

They have a variety of cold and hot selections. I must strongly recommend this place. their desert is flavorful and its big generous portion for a cheap price..

we ordered : bobo char char - cold and waterchestnut with sago

you must try the waterchestnut with sago. this is one of the best desert for the body. waterchestnut is known for the cooling effect to dispel heatiness. Sago gives u simple carb as an instant energy booster. so for a quick pick me up on a hot afternoon .. skip your coffee for this cooling crunchy dessert!

ahhh .. this is satisfying . next stop, lets check out what so unique in chinatown and we check out the chinese medical halls and cheap necessities shop ..

so they must be a good bargain .. go see if they do have something interesting for u ..

while walking inside the shopping center. i notice the most perculiar thing on earth. this boutique actually have 20 manequins neatly lay out in a row outside her small shop just to attract those ah ma and aunties
realy a good business tactic har .. lol or simply stupid ?

then we came across this nice auntie who is famous for selling her nonya kueh in her baju kebaya.. so cute and interesting, remind me of my grandmother

Crazy Curry "!!

O my god .. if you read my previous entry, you would realise i am starting to eat curry ... lol

and i am having curry again. This time round is the indonesian curry rice at IMM kopitiam. I was surprise how they serve the chicken curry. Normally, they would just pour the curry sauce over the rice and serve with egg and chicken thigh n veg. ( wait a min, do you know now for the indonesian grill, they actually do not serve vegetable anymore for free!! you have to pay 50cents more for it!! quite ridiculous! But this indonesian grill is damn nice, they serve curry in another bowl!!! loads of curry and plentiful of chicken , with rice and egg! its cost only $4! amazing!

And beside that i also ordered the grilled chicken. It comes with a small bowl of chicken soup.. its nice also .. heee

The grilled chicken is not too oily, and the chicken is marinated well with those spices. i like the chicken, because its tender.
3 thumbs up for the quantity and quality! its awesome! didnt give it full rating because the curry is too oily and watery no doubt its served piping hot and alot!

then was waiting for a train, i started to think of my trip overseas when i took the train. I think singapore train service needs alot of improvement. Its like an Uncle system!!!

As you know recently, its announced that train frequency increase but i also realise that when train frequency increase the amount of train technical failure also increase! amazingly, always during peak hour.. intolerable unexplainable nonsense!

and then i realise that our train service and system needs alot of improvement. we need alot of public education! when i was in taiwan, the train markings was obvious and with lights, the people are courteous and obedient to rule and regulation. but not spore. pple get into the train without waiting for alighting passengers!!! and i realise we need more traffic marshal and markings on the road .. is one simple arrow sufficient ?

well you can decide for yourself how good is the efficiency of train services and system... should we increase frequnecy and see more technical glitches ? or what is the best alternative.. ? i believe the management is also having headache ... so i guess just bear with it ....

Yawns .. have been so busy that i hardly blog .. need to prepare for so many things ..
Reservist is calling me end of this month .. gotta find all my stuffs ... another 3 more weeks right .. how time flies .. its already JUNE .. going half a yr le ..

Seiously i think i need to do something more constructive . hvent been doing something constructive yet.. I need to venture into area which i never try before, like working in the kitchen ? becoming a server ? thats hard work , but for my dreams of setting my own restaurant ...

Went to catch a movie on sunday .. been too tired and lazing around.. sunday is a relaxing day right isnt it ? went to jurong point and watch KUNGFU PANDA. this is a fantastic show.. a very good production .. ALL MUST WATCH .. but please love those kids in the cinema, i know they can be irritating .. but this is after all a cartoon ..

They have like MASTER WU GUEI .. lol ... how can a stock give birth to a panda ? and the panda become the DRAGON WARRIOR ?? lol .. jus too hilarious ..

Have you ever tried BK Tendergrill .. i think its the best fast food .. its not fattening like those fried fish or chicken fillet laden with oil and bread crumbs and everything on it .. tendergrill serves chicken thighs .. its smooth and tasty .. you can opt without the mayo though for a even healthier choice.. but i choose to have it all!

And i went to try some foodcourt claypot delights as well, if you remember my previous entry on the famous claypot .. i went to try the foodcourt version, it turns out never that nice at all ... i ordered the claypot chicken rice and claypot chicken curry . its at tiong bahru foodcourt

The claypot curry first up, is not really curry i guess. they put alot of onions into the soup. in every mouthful of curry i slurp, it taste of bits of onion.. how can this be . this is simply a cheap version and easy way to cook curry to save on other ingredients. the curry is not fragrant at all... the only consolation is that they serve big chicken parts. but why serve dry taupok in a curry.. lol

the claypot chicken rice was ok, its normal all i say is that it can def be better. the chicken is too stingy and the rice needs more effort to fry till fragrant.

and which .. i journey home, too tired ... i end up taking pics instead of in control of the car !!

What do I believe ??

I was approached by a man on the bus who sat beside me and asked me about what do i believe in? I looked at him right into the eyes and kept quiet to hear what he has to say. If you are wondering, who is this person is. He is quite an ordinary chap out there, but rather brave to 'preach the good news of salvation'. Our conversation goes

Mr x : ' Hey man, my name is xxxx, glad to see you. whats yours ?'
Me : 'Glad to have you sitting beside me too. Mine Robin. What can i do for you ?'
Mr x : ' sure, i need only a few mins of your time to share something special for you. Whats your belief anyway, robin ?'
Me : 'oh xxx. i see, you are from a local outreach ministry here. Really glad that you are speaking to me, because i will chase you away, but i will enlighten you that there is NOTHING special that you will be telling me that i will believe in. ( smile )
Mr x: ' no worries robin, I have got a few question for you and a free book here!
Me : Go ahead .. shoot your question, surely it wont be hard for me to answer.
.... so the whole conversation goes to what i believe and the reason of me not agreeing with him
Mr x : it is really interesting talking to you.
Me : Well, i seriously hope you will think over what you believe and think thoroughly of what i said.
--- then he left with A RED face .. i think he seems angry. but i am composed.

These are the few question he asked me :

Qns 1 : Do you believe in GOD.
My answer : if you are talking about an ALMIGHTY GOD, who is alone ALL POWERFUL, ALL OMNISCENT and whatever attributes you accredited to it. I do not believe. Why must there be only one GOD and not many gods?

His answer : Because, in the beginning of time, it is stated that there is only ONE GOD. and by faith we believe that there is only one creator.

My response : Definitely its true, i have never doubted a story book. They definitely can get many audiences. I personally like the story book 'Harry potter' ... and like how you believe in faith, i believe that harry potter and magic exist. How amazing right.
( He was stunned ) and he proceeds to another question to divert off the 1st qns

Qns 2:
Quite interesting, But Robin, what is your belief ?

My answer : My belief is not important for you. Because xxx, you only believe that yours is the way of salvation and nothing else isnt it? otherwise, you will not bother spending your time talking to others about your faith right.?

His response : ( he went on to ask another question. )

Qns 3 :
Do you believe in MIRACLE ?

My ans : Explain miracle. I do not understand how you mean by do you believe in MIRACLE. because, having speaking to you is also a miracle! it kills my boredom in my bus trip! thats to me a miracle.

His response : chuckles, miracles as in, when you pray and you felt a change in your being or an answered prayer?

My ans : No, in that sense of miracle, i do not believe. Prayer is simply a mental motivation for me to strive ahead. The only miracle that can ever happen is when you work hard for your result. A farmer cannot just plant a seed and pray for harvest! he has to plough the field day and night to get his harvest!
Simarly its not a miracle that we are talking right into 10 mins of our bus ride. because you spend the effort talking to me

Qns 4:
Do you know GOD is alive and he is actively there and everywhere! and he is here as well!

My answer : How comforting to know that. ( i look around ) sorry but i dont see GOD at all. can you point the direction at where your GOD is ?
( he stunned ) but he replied quickly .. he is everywhere.!

this is my long reply to him on the existence of GOD.

XXX, it is really amazing how many people like you living in this modern age today believe in a fairy tale of a living GOD, who roams the earth and speaks to his chosen one. Sending message to selected few who have the charisma to understand.
But hey xxx, this are all we read in the book! its 2000 yrs ago! what happen to the 'active' GOD that is explicitly mentioned in the book ? where he speaks from the burning bush, spoke from heaven. having messengers. gave directions to people to flee sodom and gomerhea. Send his beloved son down to save us . and of cause many 'real life' actions from GOD.

God was so readily to punish unbelievers and reward the believers. He separated the red sea to demonstrate his power. given moses the magic stick that convince the pharaoh to believe and he sent his message to MARY to conceive Jesus. and etc etc. All i can say .. your GOD seems to be tired after the string of so many events .. that he is so passive now. THERE is nothing now that GOD demonstrated his power in the means your book says!

When tsunami strikes, when earthquakes kill millions and billions of African dying of hunger. Did anyone stand up and says like in the old time ... ' this is the sign of GOD, repent and believe?' absolutely there is no ONE person that summon such authority as in the history. BECAUSE, if the person do so , he is considered as an heretic! In the end, everyone prays in harmony and starts to compromise. I believe this is not how it was in the book! its either you believe or die!
So what happen to your GOD? why did he stop sending his message. why end with only a specific person / prophet that is till the end of time. leaving millions speculating who is right and wrong.

His response : Thats because Our first parents sin! thats why we are plague with this sin!

My answer : ( chuckled ) Well, God has definetly has committed a grave sin by charging all adam and eve sins to us! We jumped onto news that shows inhumane justice ruling crimes of a rapist father to the daughter, by charging her for seductively temptation. How horrendous when the father get free and the daughter was jailed for his mistake. Human rights will certainly starts campaigning for the release of the girl.. dont you agree this is evil?

So in the sense, if we jump on such horrendous act of injustice. why agree to GOD's sin of charging us adam and eve's sin ? how partial is this GOD of yours. And furthermore, do you know your GOD has allowed ADAM and EVE to commit incest. because GOD is the father, Adam and eve are son and daughter of GOD. do you ever see this point ?

Qns 5 :
Hey Robin, i can see that you read alot. But its all about faith. GOD answers the prayers of his faithful.

My response : Oh ... ( i snugged and chuckles ) NO he doesn't! he does not answer the prayers of his faithful. Share with me some incident of how GOD have answered your prayers!

I would like to share with you, When i finished one seminar at indoor stadium, it was crowded, but i waited for the crowd to leave before leaving home, noticing the time is late. i walked to the roadside and hoping to get a cab, But i could not find one, i briefly closed my eyes and prayed for a cab, guess what, when i opened my eyes! there was a cab right in front of me .. Praise god. this is called trust in GOD.

My response : ( laughing out loud ) whoa ..! your GOD is so busy answering your prayer for a cab that he simply left all he needs to do to help and answered prayers of billions children dying of hunger, tsunami victims, people entrapped in the tyranncy of a government. etc etc .. how amazing!

I was approaching my stop, so i summarise for him.

xxx, we are living luxuriously with everything we wants in our fingertips. we have a roof ontop of our head and food available everywhere. There is no hassle or tussle for any necessities.
so we can easily say .. hey GOD is here with us.. he is everywhere. But hey look at those third world countries .. where is GOD? African have thousands and millions of believers as well. They prayed all day long for peace and food. Did anything happen?

xxx, GOD is not everything. Infact a person need not to believe in GOD to be successful or even just simply being happy!

There are simply too many doubts on the existence of an ALMIGHTY GOD who create the world! Because we see too many imperfect creations in the world. think about it. If we predestined to be GOD's children, dont all of us deserve the best ? why disaster? why AIDS? why cancer? why all the bad things?

Believing in GOD, is simply a fairy tale in a story book like my belief in harry potter and magic. It does not exist in the world , but ONLY exist in my mind...

Whoo .. i am on my way to thailand ... by plane ? no ... by bus ... no !!! its by train !!! lol

it has been a while since i go to Golden Mile complex aka little thailand for some shopping and big feasting ... the things as far as i know is very cheap .. but that was before all the hoo ha of the price hike ....

seriously .. today my visit to little thailand was a little disappointing and shocking .. i went to my usual restaurant for a dinner .. it was cheap and always tasty. But i was shocked when i see the price of the usual food i ordered .. some prelouge for u

Fried Kway teow chicken - usual : $3, now $3.90
tom yam soup - usual $5.50 now $9.90
Fried prawn cake - usual $8.00 now $9.90
Iced tea - usual $1 now $1.50

Imagine the amount of extra i have to pay ??? when u read this, u might not think of much, but imagine, there are others favorite food as well . but i forsake them because the price hike is similar to the tom yam soup .... it doubles up!!! quite scary but nyway .. its a nice trip there .. and i have tken loads of pics for u pple ...

But firstly ... must respect their belief ... i think this is the nicest brahman shrine i ever seen in singapore .. most of the temple you goes to are simple shrine, but this shrine is elaborately decorated with so much of thai flavor .. that you feel as if you are in thailand itself ... the king himself is the most revered person in the whole of thailand .. so even in little thailand .. his pic is almost everywhere .. respect respect!!

And before going to the store .. anyone keen on thai disco ?? lol

After touring the 1st floor of this amazing place .. we head down to our favortie place for makan !!

this place is the most comfy restaurant amongest all the other in little thailand, if you have been there before, alot of other restaurants comes with KTV and alot of girls .. lol .. this is one of the nicer family restaurant away from the bustling big breast woman .. try this place .. even the price is steep now .. the quality of food still remainss..

we orderd .. fried kway teow chicken, lemongrass juice - a good detox drink. ice milk tea, tomyam seafood and fried prawn cake

Up first .. the drink .. the iced tea is a must try .. its the same version as the one u find in thailand!!

Tom yam soup ... whoo .. its spicy its hot . its wham, its slap it kick .. its Awwessoomme !

the special prawn cake .. this is fresh .. the prawn are all finely and freshly minced n make into this fabulous prawn cake .. when you bite, the chunk of fresh prawns immediately jump into ur senses .. its really really delicious .. a must try each time there .. it goes well with the plum sauce..

up next fried kway teow chicken .. this is the best ever i ate before ... you can taste the 'WOK HER' in this kway teow .. if you read my previous blog, this is how fried kway teow suppose to taste like .. steamy hot and soft rice noodles cook into perfection with the correct blend of spices and sauce with that strong pungent aroma of the wok!

doesnt look nice .. try it .. you will love it .. nothing replace this fantastic dish!

there are like freshly slaughtered catfish, which are plastic wrapped ( they are still breathing, mind you). there are frogs .. fresh eels .. and everything else .. the stench remind you of a slaughterhouse ....

and you like dried goods ????? do not think its your typical ikan billis .. this thais really have a weird liking .. there are dried skewered frogs, bats, fishes, and many others .. you dare to try ... its gross ..

so far so good ..how about the live animals section .. ok, there is no live chicken or cows here, but there are tons of live eels and catfish.. and a butcher chopping it up upon request .. they are those who cruelly plastic seal those live animals while they are still breathing ..

Okay dun puke ... on the lighter side .... enjoy a beer .. lets take a walk down the processed food sector ...

Before we head on to eat .. we went for haircut

This is the internal of the place .. look damn nice la ... its really professional haircut too.. you will love it . because i love it !

And i guess there are so many people getting married and forming a family now .. lol ... congrats jasmine .. you have a pleasant son .. He is so adorable ... i forget his name .. oops .. too long le

so its a good catch .... Jan has it .. i had ermz ... black pepper ribs! lol

But before the main dishes arrive . we gorge ourselves on the FREE flow of bread .. lol .. its another competition i tell you .. we are trying to see who can eat more !!! ok .. its an excuse to indulge in lots of food .. lol

Black Pepper ribs

As usual, My critics for this dish .. haiz .. its so disappointing as much as i can be. My hope for a good ribs was smashed! this dish does not look appetizing to me at all. Firstly, the ribs seems to be overly baked. The black pepper sauce is definitely not worth my time. its too salty and it reeks of 'smelly pepper' But the consolation is that it comes with my favourite baby carrot pickled cucumber. The dish come alongside with a serving of mashed potato. The mash potato is not worth an accompaniment dish for the ribs too. its cold and its hard...

so .. smashed it .. do not ever eat it !!! it sucks

St louis Ribs

This is one that everyone must try. The savior of cafe cartel. Seriously speaking, i have eaten most of the food in the menu .. nothing is as good as this st louis pork rib. At least its the nicer food amongest all the food in the menu

donuts ??? no way .. to sinful and normal ... the craze is over
breads ? sandwich ?? well thats boring. so we give four leaves and crystal jade bread a miss.

and we end up on this shop basement 1 beside E-generation donuts ... FANCY DELIGHTS !!

We were quite amazed as in, what does fancy delights sell ? its actually egg tarts.. lots of variety with different taste. they have a total of 10 different taste i guess.!!!

There are banana, apple and cinnamon, taiwanese tart, curry chicken, chicken.. etc etc ... you have to find it yourself! the aroma of tarts could easily kill you .. its damn nice la!~!

and we bought ....... 6 egg tarts .. 2 taiwanese, 2 cheese, 1 apple cinnamon, 1 banana

And whoooo .... we are going home .. really satisfying

DUMPLING DUMPLING DUMPLING ....
Rice Dumpling festival or DRAGONBOAT FESTIVAL or Duan Wu Jie

I ever wonder why dumpling .. i am not talking about those normal dumpling which you find in your soup but more towards the RICE DUMPLING.

1st legend
The Dragon Boat Festival or Rice Dumpling Festival, “Duan Wu Jie” in Chinese, falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. It is celebrated in remembrance of Chinese poet, Qu Yuan who sacrificed his life by jumping into the river.

Rice dumpling is a Chinese tradition. The legend goes that there was a great man who was thrown in the sea and because he is real well respected. the villager try to 'preserve' his body by throwing sticky rice which is formed into the present dumpling shape which we see now into the sea to feed the hungry fishes.

2nd legend
There are also many legends circulating, another one popular was that there was a war and both side was kept into a standstill. In order to win the battle, spy has to send secret messages and one of the mean is to insert messages into the rice dumpling( a staple food for the warring soldiers) and pass it to the emperor. And with this indigenous idea, they won the war!

This rich legend ha slowly evolved into our modern culture. As we see more and more young adults embracing the ancient sports - DRAGON BOAT.

But whichever legends we subscribe to. We cannot deny that RICE DUMPLING is a delicious meal by its own. I can easily gobble up to 3 Rice Dumplings in a go! whoa . thats not too much yet. some of the friends i know can easily eat up to 5 or 6 Dumplings in a go!!!

But hey! what goes into the dumpling ????

To the best of my knowledge, the most common kind of rice dumpling is known as the 'bak chang' which literally means rice meat dumpling. However, similar to the mooncake, rice dumpling was not spared from creative juices from the ever money making vendors, who come up with different variety of dumplings that include mushroom, gingko nuts, green tea, roast chicken .. you name it you have it!

Hokkien or typical chinese rice dumplings

In peranakan family, the one that i am born in. Instead of making savoury dumplings like the bak chang, we make our version of rice dumpling, smaller in size and sweet in taste. its called 'kee chang. or called as nonya dumplings
the color compared to normal chinese rice dumpling is lighter

Nonya Dumplings or called as kee chang

So naturally, Rice dumplings evovled in taste according to the different dialect group you come from. Hokkien will come with their savoury version, Cantonese will come with their super deluxe verison of rice dumpling and the peranakan has them .. etc etc ..

Ingredients in Rice dumplings
Glutinous rice , Bamboo leaves for wrapping the dumpling
Meat filling - depends on liking, most commonly used is pork
salted egg
dried shrimp
chinese dried mushroom or shitake mushroom
bean paste ..

this are but not limited the basic ingredients that goes into our rice dumpling

I AM BACK WITH MORE FOOD !!!

Me after 5 days of torture by the virus !!! back in pink of health .. but boy i look thinner!! lol

Tell you something, if you haven't know yet. I have a few favorite food which i simply love. One of which, will be DIM SUM. Its a variety of chinese cantonese finger foods either deep fried or steamed. Its delicious as a Morning snack, Lunch, Dinner or even supper!! The magic of this delicacies is that I can fill the table with different food and indulge myself in my 'buffet' and pay the same price you would if you eat in a cafe or restaurant with your only one plate of whatever beef or chicken steak... Look at the long board of menus, they have wide selection of local dimsum to shanghainese buns dumplings and also ramens. But these shanghainese selections are recently added to give more choices to the chinese working here in singapore.

The famous dim sum would be - MEE SUA KUEH and LO MAI KAI
Mee sua kueh is a dish discovered by the owner, and it gain fans all around and won as the most creative dish in dim sum world!

LO MAI KAI

Their Lo mai kai - glutinous Chicken rice, is not too sticky, chewy soft texture and the rice is fragrantly fried with sesame oil, chicken oil, dried shrimp, garlic and its special paste. The rice simply whet your tastebud at your very first bite!

To take you to ultimate heaven, the toppings of chicken and mushroom is a perfect blend with the glutinous rice. For the weight watchers .... keep your diet for another day!

As i have mention that MEE SUA KUEH is one of the famous dish that you should try. however, due to the popularity of the dish, i have to wait for 20 minutes. so I have decided not to order it since i was too hungry to wait .. so no picture. next time perhaps ...
But most of their dim sum deserve our attention too. simple presentation but delicious in each and every bite. the charsiew bao, the banana prawn, the dumplings the meatball.. its all so awfully nice...

Look at how old school the teacup .. lol.. nvm . i find their setting rather simple and old school. the tea cup is served in container of hot water.. i think its use to disinfect the cups or make the cup hot .. lol .. they serve chinese tea and chrysanthemum tea .... good to wash away those oil in the tummy .. and PREPARE for

DUMPLING RAMEN !!!!!

ok, ramen lover should try this. the Noodle is skillfully pulled into the exact measurements. you are not able, not able i REPEAT not able to find any thread of noodles broken or too thick or long. they are simply PERFECT. the chef will actually pull the noodle right infront of the customer and twirl , cook the noodle and serve !

The noodle itself is light in taste. some ramen noodle can be rather heavy filling when you eat it. Amazingly this ramen is AL DENTE! its to the tooth. once bitten consider broken .. lol . the broth is clear and refreshing. it does not leave the 'sick' taste that you wont want to eat again feeling. you can smell the tangy bone aroma in the soup which seems to be calling you in every spoonful ..

the dumpling is deliciously made. it resemble the xiao long bao. every bit you take. the meat inside is succulent and the juice will ooze out when u sink your teeth in. where do you find such dumpling similar to xiaolong bao ... the skin of the dumpling is thin enough to cover the filling. thick skin dumpling are tastless, because they taste of flour only. the filling is very generous too..

HELLO AND WELCOME BACK!! Firstly i would like to thank all my friends for their well wishes when i was sick for the past few days... i am glad i am back ! and lets ROCK the world

This really really sounds cool .. so i will strike off the word 'Try' in my 'dictionary !! lol

After i have sort of recover 70% i intended to get my first normal meal, not by indulging, but at least allowing me to see a complete plate of food. As you know i eat lot .. lol .. i do not know how i survive when i was sick, when i barely take 3 spoonful of food.. its just lots of medication!!!

I went to IMM and thought that i should have some nice ermz Chinese Cantonese food because it was late at night. bearing in mind doctor says ... avoid food that is 1) hard to swallow 2) hard to chew 3)too solid food 4)spicy

so i was thinking porridge will be a good idea .. but NO! i hate porridge, so i decided to go with horfun!

But u know what .. to my disappointment, its either because its my 1st opening meal, i felt like vomitting and don't eat much or because the food sucks, or maybe its both reason!!!!

I DID NOT FINISH THE FOOD !!!! i only manage to finish the almond cream .. lol

Although my taste bud might not be fully recovered, i am still able to do little bit of food tasting.

Firstly, the beef crispy noodle ... the serving portion is definitely generous. its huge chunk of fried noodle dose with savory black pepper sauce and tops with juicy beef slices and cai xin.

The noodle is perfectly browned, the beef is tender and succulent enough on its own. But thats not the important point of Cantonese cuisine!! its the sauce ... meeee god !
ITS TOO SALTY ! did they mistook the salted bean paste sauce as black pepper sauce ? the sauce when scooped was starchy, and it lacks the kick of a genuine black pepper. it taste more like black pepper sauce off the bottle ! Really needs improvement

The next dish is Seafood Black Pepper Horfun

This is one of their most recommended dish. Their hottest dish in town!! However, this dish is always , i repeat always lacking in consistency. Horfun lover island wide like me, would agree on one thing .. horfun should have the 'WOK HER' The distinctive flavor pack aroma of the wok when the rice noodle is being stir fry in high fire.

BUT THIS HOR FUN DOES NOT HAVE ! -- this is already considered a total failure.

But the only consolation of the dish is that they serve the seafood in its full glory. The prawns come intact with shells and mussels, fish slice. But generally speaking this is not the main idea. well.. this still be of some credit to their 'famous' dish.

ok enough for main course ... its dessert time ....

almond cream !!!

This hot sweet creamy stuff is widely known to be used by Chinese princess to maintian their youth and complexion .. But its also soothing to the throat. so i have it! its not one of the best. but its still palatable...

well, as i will alway say .. go try it yourself !! you can decide for yourself

When we are going back we saw this van at the carpark ... pple going for mobile fengshui ??? come on pple!!!! don't fall back to primitive supersitious !!! trust yourself , the greatest weapon is your mind!!!

my mum recently bought some pastry n the name of the shop is YAHWEH

if you are a christian, you must have known that YAHWEH or YHWH is the name which is given to GOD alone, Similar one will be JEHOVAH

I find it so contradicting . when i see the name and the 3rd commandment in the bible
' Thou shalt not use Gods Name in vain'

isnt using YAHWEH,
means the owner, though christian is making use of GODs name to do business. and its using GOD's name in vain ?

On sunday, went to attend some talk in the morning, and boy it was raining at parts of singapore. Hit on to orchard afterwhich to catch an interesting 50s show - Indiana Jones .. if you like show with a punch of case solving, this is one you should watch. similar to mummies return. LOL . but honestly, i prefer Mummies return

This is nice, takashimaya basement2. lots of flavor to choose from. I had Yoggi yoghurt and mango.. cooling and nice ... Try it

Well ... just to let you know .. i fall sick on sunday .. got worse on monday !!!argh .. smiley me before i get sick .. :<
but still look as if going to die right ....!!!! fever !!!!

Dinner was at tiong bahru market have not been there since it was renovated. so yeah went up there. its spacious and less crowds ..
less crowds ? is it a good thing or not ? lol .. i realize there are alot of 'recommended food' by makan sutra etc etc ... But something does not convince me ..

I find their food is average ... even though it claims to be excellent. DID the owner watered their standard because they are busy every time .. or the rating is based on the food critic preference. so if he likes non salty food, all non salty food receive rating .. lol

anyway .. there are many hidden treasures out in the market .. dun keep queueing for those 'branded' tasteless stuff ...

chee kway . this shop is located at the corner. however the owner is rather arrogant.. but its not that nice after all ..

then we ordered carrot cake and western food ..
all famous stall .. but doesn't taste good ... by the way, whats singapore trend to use hotplate for western food ?? so funny ..
by the way, they are at the same stall !

Saturday is my fitness and food day too where i will try different food everywhere and do my usual run and blading at east coast park !! lol

My saturday morning usually starts with a nice plate of steamy hot carrot cake at my house coffeeshop ... its dammn nice la and a big plate for only $2.00 !!

After breakfast, i head to East Coast Park for a good tan plus run N blade ... need to get active for more food for the whole day ! lol
The weather is damn good .. see the sun ???

Exercising shag me out .. so yeah its more food time !!! this time round, we walk bugis street to search for nice minced meat noodle and we found it at

FORTUNE CENTER - PARKLANE NOODLE HOUSE.

Ordered : Minced meat noodle and dumpling soup $3 per bowl .. its a huge servings !!

Best to eat with lots of vinegar and chilli. this dish is indescribable .. you really just have to come by and eat it .. everything is handmade except the noodle.

Dunpling soup.. it has water chestnut inside for the crunchy taste !!!

After lunch, its time for some walk along waterloo street. lets take a look whats there !!!

the rice is freshly cooked by the grains. its not those typical foodcourt style.

filled with chinese sausage and salted fish with chicken and mushroom and slowly cooked over charcoal fire !! its damn nice la
It got that old kampong charcoal smell and taste ...

with pig organs soup !! This is also the famous one .. lol.. the soup definitely punch your tastebud and you will want a second bowl!!

After that, went to gym .. saw quan yi feng and eddie from the monsoon hair salon in the gym filming their new variety show .. know what .. SEE ME ON TV !!! LOL .. i am on TV AGAIN .. who can resist to film a handsome dude like me ... hmmm ..

LOl ... who says gym was easy .. its so tiring !! I did supersets can .. was sweating like mad in the gym going from one station to another .. but i feel good !!!

After gym went home, as it was getting late and want to get away from the peak hour crowd..

Did the news mentioned that peak hour train will not be so crowded ? It was sardine in the morning when i took the train to work... its crazy! and the worst thing is that the air con is not working .... did u experience it before ? freak !!

My comments : its nice but alittle pricey. The food portion does not justify the price and the food was not hot enough and its seems more like fast food to me. it still need some improvement to please my palate. But their service is simply EXCELLENT! Waraku deserve my 2nd chance.

First up .. WARUKU salad
This dish .. is seriously nice. As it is suppose to be a cold dish, we do not expect them to take too long to be served anyway. The serving of vegetables and tuna was generous. It has this distinctive Japanese flavor that blends perfectly with the salad.

The vegetable is light and crisp to the bite. The salad also comes with hard boiled egg nicely sliced and baby tomato .. an amazing dish by its own !!! BERRRY NICE !

Die Die Must tryyyy !!

After this teaser appetizer, we starts to have super high expectation on our main course dinner. while we are snapping away, the MAIN COURSE came IN A MATTER OF SECONDSSS !!!
i am serious about it .. I was shocked for words. But still i try and to my disgust .. arrghh ... the pasta and pizza was not hot enough, its seems to be ready made!

Ok, i assume this is how they do our dish.

Our pasta ( spaghetti ) has already been blanched long time ago. What they did was to warm the spaghetti , cream sauce together and lay the oyster and bacon on it. This is not what i expected. i expect them to take pride in their cooking by slowly and skillfully toss the noodle into taste and it should taste like its fresh from the wok!!!
( well, maybe its peak hour thats why they did this ??? )

Oh yah .. the pasta also comes with a half boiled egg .. i think most of the pastas also come with that too .. lol .. is this their trademark ??

Up next the pizza ... its similar to the pasta .. normally pizza is baked together with all the ingredients. However for this pizza, i believe the crust is already made. Because their crust is signature crispy! and they spread the sauce on it and lay the teriyaki eel ontop .. and this simple dish cost me $12.80 ?? abit stupid .. i expect them to put the eel with the bread base and bake it . so i can taste it fresh from oven ...

Really sad ... but i will visit another time. hopefully what happen this time is because of peak hour... otherwise, it should just close down ....

If you read papers or seen those chinese food variety show before. You should recognise this name. This shop belongs to a young entreperneur who learnt cantonese dimsum from some chef and was able to make it 'modern' with his twist of style.

His trademark dish would be - egg wrap carrot cake.

He did mentioned something like the carrot cake is freshly made daily and is wrapped with some dried shrimp or something special to make it different from all other carrot cake ...

But to my dismay !!! its another nightmare for me .... i can do it too ! all i need is to buy a piece of carrot cake from the market coffeeshop, fry an egg wrap with it and put some dried shrimp or dried xo pieces inside ... this pathetic piece of 'cake' cost me $3.50 !!!

This shop really does not deserve such publicity ...

Does he deserve so much attention and big hoo ha ? i think he deserve it for his spirit of entrepreneurship and not i repeat NOT HIS CREATIVE FOOD ! go try it yourself !

The piece of carrot cake was sliced in 4 portion and hey ! i waited 5 minutes for this and finish it in a matter of 30 seconds ... SO FREAKING ANGRY !!!

The only thing that saves my day is my mum's cooking again LOL

My mum cooked this popiah kinda vegetable

Braised 'Ban guan', she took time to clean the veg, sliced it and slowly braised it with dried shrimp, some roast meat and pork belly ... and it can take up to 2hours to allow the whole dish to simmer and it taste so good with just rice !!!

HIGH PROTEIN CORN FLAKES!

And i chance upon this cornflakes that boast a high amount of protein unlike other morning cereals .. so i bought it .. its cheap ! $6.90 for a big box ..

add 1/2 cup of skim milk with 30 grams of cereals and meet up to 25% of your protein intake .. lol.. do you believe ???

How weird is your day ..... ???

The weather is supderduper weird today ... !! LOL .. but i quite like the weather today .. its not humid like the past few days .. it got this nice cool breezy feel and it rains quite a few times too !!

Morning was raining so heavily ... gosh and then .. the sun shines so brightly in the afternoon .. well .. evening it starts to rain again .. LOL ... so weird

Yeappee its raining !! lets do the rain dance ...lalalala .. HEY HEY .. but this is a short term happiness .. lol .. its bright and sunny after that

Mum decided to go shopping and not cooking dinner !!! so i decided to go IMM for dinner with JAN.. LOL .. he is really very nice. when i said no dinner, he suggested that we should have a meal and chit chat .. so i end up at IMM ...

His Honda Jaz ... have you bought your lucky 4d yet ??? LOL... this is hot number

We decided to give this cafe which is located at level 1 a shot .. its a open kitchen and open dining concept.

It is supposedly to be a famous dim sum brand. Well, we did not try all the dim sum, so i am not able to comment on that. But by the look of people queuing to buy their steam items ... one word for all .. GOOD. lol ..

Bao Luo Wan Xiang - means we have everything you want ! isit correct ? lol

Whoa ! this is absolutely so worth it ...

Fried carrot cake and fried mango prawn popiah
- This is the typical market style dimsum. However the selling point of this mini fried stuff here is the $$ value for money at a shopping center cafe.

However, i am quite disappointed over the quality of the food. it was served cold and when we request to heat up. it was microwaved ! lol .. so if you love fried dimsum .. go for it in the morning when its still fresh !

Carrot Cake and Mango Prawn Popiah

The carrot cake when heated up, have a strong dried shrimp and chinese sausage taste. the taste linger for sometime and you are able to savor the sweet taste and aroma of both sausage and dried shrimp. Thumbs up when its hot!

The Mango prawn popiah also deserve your attention. The mango is sweet and it flows out when u sink ur teeth into the fluffly crust... nice ... thumbs up when its hot !

Beef Ramen ( Pressingly SEDUCTIVE! ) Must try!!!

This beautiful dish immediately got me to quickly snap it down! the look of it is tempting. Firstly, you can see that the noodle is nicely twirl in the bowl. the beef is sliced thinly and laid beautifully on the noodle ... The appearance is SEDUCTIVE!
Noodle is finely pulled and the beef slice is succulent. its lean meat. there is no 'hard veiny' beef in the whole bowl .. 2 thumbs up!!!

We chanced upon this ICE shop. never tried it before. so decided to give their one of their famous four a try !! its a hot seller item .. its called THREE IN ONE .. weird name but lol .. its really sinful..

Lets look closely why isit sinful

Because its laden with loads i repeat loads of condensed milk, sugar syrup and whatever sweet things ... lol . even the fruits though freshly cut but is immersed in their homemade maple syrup to give in that extra KICK...

Its sweet .. but the ice magically covers up the whole taste .. so when you eat . its not so sweet anyway .. lol

Its not expensive only $3.20

and alas ... we are so full after the desert ...

Temperature soaring high at 35 degrees ??

Gosh that explain why the sky is cloudless !! lol .. can you see the clear blue sky .

Although the weather is hot, but it did not stop me from going to gym .. yeah exercising is part of my lifestyle ... !! i have to .. otherwise Singapore food will make you fat !!! lool

After gym, decided to hit the nearby ' tea hut' at bugis junction with my gym buddy justin for a cool cool drink.
well, its my first time there and i wont go there anymore .. its simply too EXPENSIVE !!

This is exactly what we ordered !
2 glass of red tea with fruits ( can fruits ) sucky - @ $3.50 each
1 plate of fried rice ( claims to be special ) $5.50
1 thick toast with cheese and kaya $4.o0
with gst and such -------- total $19.40

its is ridiculously crazy!!!

This is the dinner special !! claypot rice , fried beehoon, fried rice ! but hey ! the price was not written in the menu .. and i got shocked when its $5.50 .. whats so special about this fried rice, check it out below.

This is the SPECIAL FRIED RICE that i ordered .. okay, i might be stupid not checking out the price first, but who expect such tea hut to sell it so expensively ...

-- whats inside ? fake crabmeat or known as crabstick, some eggs fried with the rice, green peas and 3 chicken wings .. lol .. ( personally its not worth it.. but you may like to try it yourself to decide. )

It taste good .. filled with generous cheese, but the kaya filling is masked by the cheese. it lacks of the kaya taste ..

Well Cafe Cartel is a good beginning a good change. We headed to cafe cartel at IMM for our dinner.

We ordered accordingly.

Bro - Chicken and fish combo
Sis - Striploin steak ( wanted medium well, but it was too well done !!! ) lol
Mum - Spicy seafood pasta
Dad - Spicy cheese macaroni

nothing to say about this dish... its simply mouth watering .. although the fats content in this dish could be slightly high, depend on the pig itself. other than that .. this meal is really really fulfilling on its own ..

Ok, seriously speaking, i think the only dish which is worth of comments is their award winning ribs la.. other than that .. the food in the menu is just food ... nothing spectacular. even my parents say, no need to take pic, but i secretly take some shot for u lor .. lol

my mum spicy seafood pasta. she keep blocking it, saying dun take !! lol
- comments : although its suppose to be spicy, but it was not spicy at all. The linguine is bland and seafood portion is really pathetic. ( expensive at $16.90)

My dad macaroni ! lol, similarly, he is using his back to 'protect' his not so nice pasta. lol
comments - the tinge of spiciness is there, but the dish lack the kick. you will not want it to stay too long in your mouth .. just swallow it! ( its not cheap, its $17.90)

This was the salad which my mum keep asking for. !! prawn cocktail salad
comments : prawns not fresh. its served alongside with kiwi, orange slice, peach slice and canned pineapples. ( the kiwi is too sour and hard. the vegetable is so bland. ) expensive ...

Ok, the only consolation is that all set menus come with a optional add on for soup + drink + free flow of bread ...

seriously ... the soup needs tremedous improvement. it taste non better than our normal condensed campbell soup .!!

The best part is this .. singaporean favorite ... FREE FLOW OF BREAD !!! lol .. seriously, so many people queuing for it lor .. but i guess my smile always work wonder,

i do not need to queue, the waitress come and offer to send it to my table .. and i give her a big THANK YOU ..!! lol

Cafe Cartel after so long, its still pen your order. I applaud this method of order taking. I dislike waiter or waitress coming, haunting you to take your order.

BEEF

Singaporean loves to eat beef. Its one of my favorite meat as well.

Stats shown that Singaporean consume an average of 45 pounds of beef in a year! We really love our beef!!

What is the nutritional value of beef ?

Beef contain high level of protein and vitamin B complex and zinc. All these are essential for our muscle growth. That is why many athletics's and bodybuilder loves beef!

Beef also contain CLA - a chemical reaction in our body to promote lean body mass.!

What is the difference between cows, calf and veal ?

Cows must be above 2 years of age and preferably weighs about 1000 pounds. This must be grass grazing cow.
Beef from cows which graze freely on open field has better quality.
* Milk is obtained dairy cows, not from free ranch cows that we get our beef from.

Calfs are Cows which is younger than 2 years old and above 3 months, they should weigh about 500 to 700 pounds. Generally, calf are not slaughtered for their meat.

"Veal" is meat from a calf which weighs about 150 pounds. Those that are mainly milk-fed usually are less than 3 months old. The difference between "veal" and "calf" is based on the color of their meat, which is determined almost entirely by diet. Veal is pale pink and contains more cholesterol than beef. *** choose regular beef if you want those protein but lesser cholesterol

How do you determine the Quality of beef ?
Marbling is white flecks of fat within the meat muscle. The greater amount of marbling in beef, the higher the grade because marbling makes beef more tender, flavorful, and juicy.

Why is beef considered RED meat
Simply because, a lot of oxygen is delievered into the muscles of the cow. Myglobin determines the color of the meat. Beef is called a "red" meat because it contains more myoglobin than chicken or fish. Other "red" meats are veal, lamb, and pork.

How to choose your beef ?
choose beef that is bright red in color in the fresh meat case. Remember, vacuum packaged beef in the self-serve case will be maroon because it has not been exposed to oxygen.

Choose beef that is firm to the touch.

Choose beef that has little or no excess liquid in the package.

Look for packages that are cool to the touch and have no wear or punctures.

Always check the "sell-by" date.

What is the common cuts found in steak ?

TBone ,

The T-Bone steak has the characteristic "T" shaped vertebrae and the large eye muscle.

Tenderloin
The most tender cut from the entire beef is the Beef Loin Tenderloin Steak.
This steak has a fine texture, is circular in shape Also known as a "Filet Mignon". ( I would recommend tenderloin for you, if you not quite like beef. It is good for starter!)

What kind of flavor do you like ?

Raw ? - You should try beef tartare then. ( goodness, no on really eat raw beef!) Medium rare - Bloody and its not so tasty, unless if u are vampire.

Medium well - the most preferred choice. its tender and pinkish inside, the juice is succulent inside and the outside is well done. this is the best way to eat your beef

Well Done - not recommended. unless if you like to train your jaw muscle ! ( this is but only a guide, it is still up to your personal preference! )

Which meal matter most? Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner?
Nutritionist says that Breakfast should be the biggest meal - Eat like a king, and a Moderate Lunch and of cause, eat dinner as a pauper... and please!!! no supper. LOL

However, i think the cycle is the reverse for me.

My breakfast is normally simple but filling, Cereals and milk with either a Banana or an apple.

Lunch will be either own cookfood .. muahahah .. did i tell you i can cook ? yes i can! or food from the nearby coffeeshop

My dinner will be the biggest meal of the day! Normally i would have 2 dinner, example today. when i have more than 1 dinner appointment ... LOL.

I visited one of my favourite Teochew restaurant for this yummylicious fish soup. Its cheap, absolutely delicious and the serving is BIG !

The fish soup is rather different, it is served alongside with generous servings of bitter gourd and fried beancurd skin! The fish meat is fresh and the fish is cut in thick chunks, so you can literally bite into the freshness of the fish.

The soup base is boiled with - dried salted cabbage, dried sole fish, dried garlic, fish bone and shells. The soup is really really very unique

Eating simply brings comfort to your tired day. And guess what. its open 24hours everyday!! which means you have more choices for supper instead of prata! lol.. fish soup is not so sinful afterall right ..?? hahah

Beside fish soup, they serve teochew cze char and braised duck as well.

Beware, the prices for cze char can be quite steep! But the price for fish soup starts at $3 onwards. so it wont burn a hole in your pocket!

The brown sauce is known as salted bean sauce, but its specially prepared with some secret ingredients.. lol .. i simply love it. it goes so well with the fish soup

Lol, my mum cooked nasi lemak - Coconut Rice. Although, the accompaning dishes is not the traditonal one. But given the modern us now, we want a different variety.

so yeah, this is my mum's nasi lemak... check out the amount of side dishes!! lol

Fried egg sunny side up ! haha, u might wonder what is that big
round thing right??? its the uncut fish cake. its really very tasty, the meat inside is supple and the skin outside is crispy .. ooooh... mamamiya !

Ok, this is not necessary. but my sister like nuggets, so fried nuggets and my dad love fried fish, so fried fish .. the slice fish cake

Cucumber is nice to go alongside with the rice. it helps to mask the spiciness of the chilli

Chilli is very important! it compliment and enhance the your eating pleasure!!!

Of cause, not forgetting the rice. the color varies.

Green is my favorite color.. so that explains why my rice is green! lol

And guess what? you won’t need to spend a fortune visiting fortune teller and wasting your time participating in rites or rituals which you do not know.

All we need is to be diligent in our life and attend to our needs and daily life morally.

We can assure ourselves of a better future.

Vesak Public Holiday

Yeah .. finally, Vesak day mark an awesome mid year. If i am not wrong, this is the only public holiday in mid year. it was so interesting having some fun learning about how vesak day was celebrated.

For those who does not know what Vesak Day is all about, Its actually the day when Buddhist believe that Buddha was born, Achieve Nibbana and his passing away. Its 3 event in one day.
Is it a mere coincidence or simply for conveniences sake?

You may say all that you like, but i think Vesak day is a beautiful event...

Visited the most commercialized Chinese Buddhist temple in Singapore. If you have read about it in paper, this temple was in the a spotlight for the possibility of having a fake 'Buddha tooth'.
this temple is located opposite maxwell market. I believe its all up to individual on how we view sacred relics. Go see it for yourself.

My feeling for this temple is that its modern and i heard that some parts of the temple are really made of GOLD !! yeah, devotees actually give their golds to be melted to build this temple.. whoa ! this is magnificent...

by the way, its a hot tourist spot.

The second place which i visited. Buddha Dhamma Mandala Buddhist Society

This society is guided by Bhante S. Dhammika. An Australian monk who became a monk in India in 1976. He has lived in Sri Lanka and Singapore for many years.

He has written several books on Buddhism. And the most popular book will be Good Questions and Good Answer. It has been translated to 14 languages and distributed around the world!

If you are interested to know more on Buddhism and get away from those queer religious practices check out the web page or drop by for their Sunday service at 10am

This is one of the Buddhist center which i like, its non ritualistic and the teaching is direct and really beneficial. It helps me to understand Buddhism as it is and dispel all the superstitious Chinese beliefs which many so called as Buddhist belief.

Relics of Mahasidda Geshe Lama Konchog... Do you believe in the existence of RELICS?

Buddhism, since the passing away of Buddha has been practiced by thousands or even millions worldwide. Similarly with most religion, Buddhism was not spared from the primitive traditions and cultures practiced when the natives started to embrace buddhism.

On Saturday, I visited Amitabha Buddhist Center at Geylang to have a sneak preview on how relics of an accomplished teacher will look like.
I must say that i am pretty amazed by the beauty of the relics. its flawless.

The tibetan traditions, says that Relics of an accomplished man is hard to come by. And he must have acheieve a high level of attainment. And before he dies, he focused his mind in meditation so that some relics will be left behind for all as a source of inspiration and blessing. . It has also been mentioned that People with good karma and affinity will be interested to view relics.

Brief history

Mahasidda Geshe Lama Konchog, was an extremely humble monk. The Holy relics of this great man are extraordinary, as they appeared in great variety and amount and are known to muliply by themselves. It was also mentioned by his disciple that before Geshe Lama konchog dies, he specifically mentioned on the rituals and rites for his funeral. And he died while meditating on clear light meditation for 7days. and after which the body was cremated.. and there you have it! the relics of this great man...
